S4-6 Essential Practical Activity
The Scottish government has confirmed that secondary schools can allow some senior phase (S4-6) learners to attend for essential practical activity in certain subjects from the 22nd February. The most recent letter from the Director of Children’s Services gives further detail: Parent Carer Update Letter – 17 Feb
Pupils who need to attend Renfrew High next week will be informed by their teachers tomorrow, Friday 18th, via Satchel One (Show My Homework) and their parents will also receive these notifications.
Numbers attending will be extremely limited and additional health and safety measures will be in place. Pupils must observe 2m distancing at all times, wear face coverings and follow hygiene rules. Pupils should enter the building via the main entrance for the times indicated by their teachers and proceed directly to the allocated teaching room. Pupils should return home at the end of each teaching block (length of lessons will vary from subject to subject). There will be no intervals or lunch breaks.
Pupils should wear school uniform (apart from PE classes).
Covid-19 Asymptomatic Testing
S4-6 pupils who will be attending school now have access to testing kits. The tests can be collected from the school office in advance of coming in for classes – just call the office to arrange a consent form and a pick-up time. Although this is voluntary I highly recommend all pupils take part in testing as this will be an additional layer of protection against potential transmission of the virus.
Further Reopening
I, and my staff team, want all young people to return to school as soon as it is safe to do so. I appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation as we enter this next phase which will hopefully lead to further reopening in due course. I will continue to keep pupils, parents and staff updated in the weeks and months ahead.
In the meantime, stay safe and best wishes.
