Earlier this term I approached Renfrewshire Council to request a brief career break, which was granted. This begins on 6th January 2022 and will last for one term, meaning I will return for the third term in April 2022. The career break will help me focus time and attention to some caring and other personal responsibilities.
I wanted to reassure you that the school will continue to function well and develop further in my brief absence. Despite all the challenges of the past two years we have always adapted and delivered for our young people and will continue to do so. We have already made good progress towards the goals set in our improvement plan and I have every confidence this will continue next term.
Following recent interviews, Carolanne Calderwood has been appointed as acting Head Teacher for next term. Carolanne has been part of my senior leadership team for nearly seven years and has my full confidence. The senior team, all our promoted staff, teachers and support staff will continue the great work we do as a school and there will be consistency of leadership approach during this time.
I will miss our young people and staff for the brief period I will be away, but look forward to returning in April to continue the work of leading Renfrew High School forward.
I offer my best wishes to you and your family for the festive season. See you again in April.
Yours faithfully
Billy Burke
Head Teacher
